Annual Leave 2023
We’re heading back to PNG today after a restful vacation in Australia. We were REALLY blessed that some good friends, who also work for MAF, let us stay in their home and use their car. They’ve been in PNG coving for another MAF couple who’ve been on Home Assignment, so we’ll see them when we return to Mt Hagen for a few days before heading back home to Telefomin.
We’ve really enjoyed having access to a big grocery store less than a 10 min drive away, with luxuries like blueberries, fresh milk and crumpets! We’ve gone for walks along the sea front and in the Botanic Gardens. We caught up with some old friends who used to live in PNG. We drove through the countryside, went for trips and enjoyed the ocean. We took the opportunity to visit Doctors and a Chiropractor, but most of all, we rested!
When we get back to PNG we fly into Port Moresby, the capital city, then catch a commercial domestic flight to Mt Hagen where the MAF HQ is. We’ll be in Hagen for a few days so Ryan can do his flight test (this happens every 6 months for all MAF pilots) and Shiv can buy groceries for the next 2 months. I (Shiv) am also hoping to catch up with a few friends as well, if there’s time.
Whilst we’re doing these things which are a part of our “normal”, the MAF Global Disaster Response Team are looking into how they might be able to mobilise in support of the relief effort in Morocco following the severe earthquake on Friday. (Click to find out more) Please pray the right aid gets through quickly to those who need it most in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. MAF flies for life all over the world!
